 Art of Jazzing for the Trombone By Fortunato Sordillo First Trombone of the Boston Symphony Orchestra A Treatise , not only upon the jazzing possibilities of the instrument , but also upon the complete possibilities of the seven positions for the slide in artistic trombone playing. Boston Oliver Ditson Company 1920. Two other publishers listed as New York Chas. H. Ditson & Co. Chicago: Lyon & Healy. Book is 32 pages and measures 9+ X 12+ inches. Great preface by author Fortunato Sordillo. Book is very clean with very minor wear to covers. Very early jazz music method book. I am listing a few other rare trombone and jazz books, including an amazing Glenn Miller book as well as what may be the first method jazz book for trombone, so check them out and ask questions. I will combine for shipping.

From what I can gather I think Sordillo was the first trombone player for the Boston Symphony.

Signor FORTUNATO SORDILLO was born in a town near Naples, Italy in 1885. At age fourteen he settled in Boston where he first studied music with the then prominent trombonist, Ripley. Later he was coached by Arthur Pryor and Herbert L. Clarke. Sordillo was Euphonium soloist with the Pryor, the Sousa, the Conway and the Stewart Bands of Boston. He also played trombone with the Savage Opera Company Orchestra and the Boston Opera Company and for a time with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 1917, Sordillo published his Method for Brass Instruments which enjoyed wide circulation as a correspondence course.
