Description
RARE LABEL: "STARR." This Australian company seems related to Gennett Records - The curlicues on the label's perimeter, and the slogan "The New Electrophonic" echoes the "New Electrobeam" Gennett label. However, the masters actually are from American Romeo / Cameo.
The PLAZA DANCE ORCHESTRA plays "SONNY BOY" and "THERE'S A RAINBOW AROUND MY SHOULDER," the two big hits from the 1928 Al Jolson smash movie "The Singing Fool." This appears to re-issue the two sides from Romeo 740 and 756, though they may be alternate takes. "Rainbow" is typically peppy!
This original 1928 "New Electrophonic" Starr 729 is in nice V++ condition.
