INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND IN ANY CONDITION, and this is a VERY NICE COPY, here is the EMI Lansdowne Series UK stereo LP SCX 6354, a FIRST PRESSING (1U/1U matrices) of Joe Harriott/Amancio D'Silva Quartet's 'Hum Dono', a landmark British jazz release from 1969 featuring Dave Green (bass), Bryan Spring (drums), Norma Winstone (vocal) and Ian Carr (flugelhorn).
The laminated flipback sleeve is in GREAT CONDITION, and bear in mind this is now a 40 year-old sleeve!! The back has very minor storage wear, with a little grubbiness to the flipback edges, and the flipbacks are structurally SUPERB, not coming away from the sleeve AT ALL!! A few minor edge creases, but that's it! The corners have very slight scuffing concomitant with storage and usage. The front laminate is COMPLETELY INTACT, NO LIFTING and in nice condition! There are a few opening edge light thumb creases and a few expected light edge creases, but really these are minor flaws on a structurally SUPERB sleeve which certainly grades EXCELLENT (minus).
The vinyl is in super visual and playing condition, a very shiny copy, which plays extremely strongly (playgraded on a Linn LP12 with RB300 arm and new Ortofon 2m blue MM cartridge). Side 1 exhibits the kind of light paper hairlines which occur with the record being taken out of the sleeve and there are a few very light marks which don't affect the superb audio. There is one mark on band 1 which does cause a click on each rotation for about a minute and a half but this dissipates and is not overly intrusive. Side 2 has similar hairlines to side 1, and there is 1 light but visible mark on band 2, but this seems to have no effect on audio at all. I have listened several times to this band in order to ascertain any clicks, pops or ticks and there are none discernable to my ear.
The spindle hole shows some spindle marks and light wear but, hey, a record is meant to be played, so this is to be expected!
All in all, this is a super copy of an EXTREMELY RARE piece of British jazz history. Starting price, given its rarity value, is reasonable and there is NO RESERVE!
I will send this within the UK by Special Delivery for the very reasonable total price of GBP4.00 (since ebay won't let me charge any more than that, I will bear the extra cost for Special Delivery). Rest assured it will be very well-packed for transit. I will send to most European countries by International Signed For insured at GBP12.00 and to the rest of the world at GBP20.00. If postage rates overseas are significantly less I will refund the difference, but please bear in mind extra packaging, time and weight for such a rare item.
