Description
Up for sale folks is a rare copy of Yesterday and Today by The Beatles. This is a MONO press, number T-2553. The back of the jacket has a #6 near the RIAA symbol identifying it to be pressed at the Los Angeles, California plant. This is a true Butcher third state as as you can see the controversial cover with the Beatles dressed in butcher smocks with raw meat and decapitated baby dolls. This was in a wood record frame and was on display for many years until very recently. The frame is not included in this auction to keep shipping prices lower.
Lets talk about condition. Sleeve is a more standard grade of VG and when I say this I guarantee it. Lets talk about why; the jacket has a few small splits with moderate corner wear. The bottom seam has some tearing and shelf wear. Next, the lower right corner has a 1" split and creases and dings on all the corners. This jacket to the best of my knowledge was professionally peeled as it superior to what I usually see listed for sale online. As this looks good in pictures, a few things should be noted. Just above George's head, a small mark is present where they peeled through the butcher cover. I also believe years ago when it was peeled, someone took a felt tip black marker and touched up some of the darker areas before it was framed. Some of the hairlines of the Beatles were touched up around the edges and parts of the black pants. Paul's black turtleneck near the arms has some light touch up. The most noticeable area is the title, most of that was outlined in black. Also between Paul and Ringo is a small 1CM circle of damage. This is all noted as it is a rare record as I want to be transparent about the condition. Now, lets talk about the back. As it is fairly clean, it does have some left over tape residue on the seams. The title seam has some splitting as well. That being said, this is a nice copy, but is no where near perfect. Pictures do speak volumes for the jacket. Alright, now the record. Folks it does have marks and scratches. This record is not perfect but still looks good. I would grade it G+ to VG. Matrix reads T-1-2553-f-19 on side one and T-2-2553-g-18 on side two. The label has spindle lines from use and a name in permeant marker on both sides.
This gem of a record has NO RESERVE and will be shipped Fedex in the US and eBay global shipping program for international buyers. This will be properly packed in a heavy duty LP mailer, and placed into a large oversized box. Not shipped in some fimbsy mailer. Bid high, bid with confidence as this is a stunning piece of rock 'n' roll history! These third state copies are getting harder and harder to find as many are horribly peeled.
