Description
RED RODNEY's "The New Sounds" released on PRESTIGE RECORDS (PRLP-122) in 1952 is a 10" EP 1st Microgroove Pressing of this rare Jazz album on think vinyl in Superb Condition. See Scan 4 for the clean labels and other scans for condition.
The RECORD is in strong VERY GOOD PLUS (VG++) condition and appears to have been played rarely judging by the lack of visible spindle marks on the labels with a lack of any real scratches or defective marks, but having spotting (from age or pressing) on a good amount of each side which I don't think has any effect on the sound. The thick vinyl appears quite clean in general. On Test Playing, I spot played each side throughout. Side One starts out with some light surface static through most of Song 1 (in diminishing amounts) which settles into a solid VG+ (even NM-) play with very light surface noise for the rest of the side. Side 2 starts out similarly with a bit more surface noise for only the first 10 seconds or so before also setting down into a minimum of surface noise throughout the rest of the side and is even closer to NM.
The COVER is in VERY GOOD PLUS condition, with 1 piece of tape having been placed in ancient times on the top seam to tighten up a semi-split, but the tape has long disappeared leaving an unfortunate dark tell-tale mark on the front and back (not seen in back scan). Otherwise the seams are clean and intact, the corners are sharp, and the front and back show just light wear, with the back showing some medium age darkening on the right side.
