Description
Per Wikipedia, Redbone is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1969 by brothers Pat and Lolly Vegas. All members during their commercial peak were of Mexican American and Native American heritage, something heavily reflected in their songs, stage regalia, and album art. They made the Billboard Hot 100 in the spring of 1974 with "Come and Get Your Love." The single was certified gold, selling over a million copies. With this achievement Redbone became the first Native American band to have such success, with the song reaching number 5. Redbone got additional notice in America with the singles "We Were All Wounded at Wounded Knee," "The Witch Queen of New Orleans," "Wovoka" and "Maggie," although these were more successful overseas. The album, Wovoka is the fifth album by Redbone. It was recorded between June and October 1973, and released in November 1973 on Epic Records. The album is named after the Paiute religious leader Wovoka, who founded the ghost dance movement. Wovoka peaked on the US Billboard 200 at number 66 in 1974. The album for sale is a 1973 release on the Epic Record label and was produced by Epic Records, mastered by Customatrix and pressed at Columbia Record's Terre Haute pressing facility. The album consists of 8 tracks with a run time of 34+ minutes. The cover is in VG condition. There is mild wear along the edges and corners mild disc wear on the front and back covers. The back cover has track listings, production information and photos of the band members. The artwork and graphics of this embossed cover show no sign of discoloration. The paper inner sleeve is original and intact. The recording has been cleaned and tested using Audacity and all tracks are free of skips. There is very little background noise and sound is strong and very clean. The disc surfaces show few signs of wear and no evidence of scratches or scuffs. I am the original owner of this recording and can attest to it's limited number of plays (less than 10). All labels are clean and intact. By Goldmine standards for grading records, this recording would rate VG+.
