R.E.M.’s 1989 FAN CLUB HOLIDAY PROMO 7” Vinyl

This is R.E.M.’s 1989 “Fan Club only” 7” Vinyl promo, the second fan club holiday single issued by the band.  It was not sold in stores. It contains two tracks, both by R.E.M.  Side A is a public domain Christmas Carol while Side B is a cover of a song by a great Boston band called "Mission of Burma".   (My memory may be failing me. But I recall that "Mission of Burma" opened for the Clash at the Orpheum in 1980 during the London Calling Tour; one of my all-time top 5 concerts.  But I digress…)

 

This 7" single was limited to 4,500 unnumbered copies and came in a folded poster sleeve which measures 14.5"x22.75" when unfolded.  I have kept the single itself in a separate plain white sleeve since I got it over 20 years ago.
