Description

R.E.M. double LP live recording from the 1987 'Work' tour on the Auto Dight label
Records all Near Mint / sleeve Near Mint - all round a very, very clean copy.  Vinyl still has that sheen indicating little/no use.  Quite rare in this condition.

A complete live show with encores recorded at the band's 80s high point in late 1987 during their legendary Work Tour promoting the I.R.S. LP 'Document'. With five record's under their belt by this stage the band is performing at the top of their game.  For fans of mid-period R.E.M. this live recording is gold.

Still playing large clubs and small arenas in '87, Stipe, Berry, Buck and Mills (and Peter Holsapple, of the dB's on 2nd guitar/keys) have their chops down and deliver a comprehensive, energetic and characteristically unpredictable set drawn from their first 5 albums and the Chronic Town EP PLUS early previews of some tunes that would appear on 6th LP 'Green' - and some impromtu covers, of course. With classic examples of Stipe's anecdotes and between-song banter.
See full tracklist below.
The band were known to put a little extra into their Los Angeles shows back in the day, as they never forgot how snooty LA industry types (unfairly) dismissed them as small town no-talents on their first visits to perform in clubs there.  The band's revenge was typical R.E.M.: play unbelievably great shows whenever they came to town to blow away any such bias, and win over even the most reluctant converts.  Maybe that is why this performance was committed to vinyl by some enterprising sorts and has become known on the collector's circuit as 'the one to own'.

This 2 x LP set it is rarely seen in this condition on the market.  It's as close to 'being there' in the audience at this 1987 show as it is possible to get.  A must-have for anyone who wants a documentary account of the band at their pre-Warner Brothers peak of performance.  I happen to have a duplicate copy so it is time to set this gem free.

Both of the two black vinyl records appear virtually unplayed, with no spindle marks on the labels and no other visible signs of wear and tear.
Paper sleeves and picture sleeve also near mint, and featuring some rarely seen and apt photographs of the band (see photos of item). On very close inspection I found a tiny surface mark (from storage I imagine) on Side 4.  I have tried to show this in the photo close up, but it is so minor as to be barely visible.  However it is on a 30 second long section of amusing between songs chat from Stipe during the band's second encore, and on testing I hear no noticeable impact on the sound.
