HERE'S a "Jazz Hot" double-feature from pre-WWII PARIS! The summer of 1939, just before the Earth was turned upside-down.
On one side is FRANK "BIG BOY" GOODIE AND HIS ORCHESTRA, a fine gathering of Frenchmen and ex-pat Americans, doing "WHO'S SORRY NOW." The celebrants include: JACK BUTLER (trumpet), ANDRE EKYAN (clarinet & alto sax), FRANK "BIG BOY" GOUDIE (proper spelling! - tenor sax), JOE TURNER (piano), NORMAN LANGLOIS (guitar), WILSON MYERS (bass), TOMMY BENFORD (drums).
On t'other, LOUIS BACON AND HIS ORCHESTRA - another nice clambake with a somewhat different combination of Frenchmen and Americans, who loudly proclaim "RHYTHM IS OUR BUSINESS": LOUIS BACON (trumpet & vocal), ALBERT FERRERI (clarinet and tenor sax), ROGER CHAPUT (guitar), WILSON MYERS (bass), TOMMY BENFORD (drums).
DJANGO REINHARDT is mysteriously absent from this record. I guess he was lounging in the alley, having a smoke. (He could roll a cigarette, with one hand, in about ten seconds! He was incredibly coordinated.)
This original 1939 Swing 222 is in lovely E condition.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
