RLS 739 Complete Recorded Legacy of Ginette Neveu Sibelius Violin Concertos 4 x LPs UK HMV
This set, “The Complete Recorded Legacy of Ginette Neveu” brings together the slender recorded output of this legend of the violin. They include works recorded in Berlin in the late 30’s; Richard Strauss’ “Violin Sonata” and shorter pieces by Bach, Suk, Gluck, Tartini and others. Also included are her recordings of the Sibelius “Violin Concerto” (with the Philharmonia conducted by Walter Susskind), and the Brahms “Violin Concerto” and Chausson’s “Poeme” with the Philharmonia conducted by Issay Dobrowen. Works for Violin and Piano include the Debussy “Violin Sonata”, Ravel “Tzigane” Suk’s “Four Pieces”, and others accompanied by brother Jean Neveu. A four record set, this is an English pressing on the HMV Label (RLS 739). The records are of mint appearance and play and sound very well with a minimum of surface noise. The box has a few small dents in the top, and has discoloured along the inside edges of the box, otherwise it is excellent condition as is the booklet.
