Description
Robert Lortat was a French pianist, born in Paris on September 12, 1885. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire under Diémer and won multiple prizes during his time there. Debuted in Paris in 1910 and later toured Germany. Lortat served in World War I, but was wounded and discharged. He returned to performing and made his U.S. debut in 1916. Although he played music of many composers, Lortat's recordings, made in 1928/9, are devoted entirely to Chopin. Lortat died in 1938.

Grading:
1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used
1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new
2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks
2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes
3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible
3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible
4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible
5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.
