Description

The Rolling Stones first single on Decca - 'Come On' (F 11675). The 'B' side is 'I Want To Be Loved'.

The disc label is marked  "Demonstration sample not for sale".

 It is in very good condition. There are light surface marks only that do not affect the listening experience in any way.  The original sleeve is in very good condition.

The label on the 'A' side has a handwritten comment 'BBC' - this is consistent with the fact that I was given this disc by a friend of the family in 1963 who worked for the BBC. The labels on both sides have an identical set of initials that were present when I received the record - I can make no comment as to who they belong to.

THIS ONE'S A REAL PIECE OF HISTORY. IT'S  THE VERY FIRST ROLLING STONES RECORDING ON VINYL TO BE PRESSED, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. HOW MANY WERE PRESSED AS DEMOS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A POINT OF CONTENTION, BUT IT'S ESTIMATED AT  BETWEEN 500 AND 1000. ALLOWING FOR THE PASSAGE OF TIME, HOW MANY ARE STILL AROUND?

WITHOUT DOUBT, IT'S DEFINITELY COMPARABLE WITH PRESLEY'S , "THAT'S ALRIGHT" AND THE DEMO OF "LOVE ME DO" BY THE BEATLES AS FAR AS ARTIFACTS OF POPULAR CULTURE GO, AND IT'S 5,000,000 TIMES MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ROBBIE WILLIAMS HAS DONE!
