Over the coming weeks I will be selling a large collection of my Father In Laws records for him, all of these records are extremely well looked after, and most were only played once or twice to record onto tape cassette..so there are some real gems coming up..please check them out.

COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL PHOTO/INFO INSERT WITH THE 'LIPS' LOGO (this was the first appearance of the "Tongue and Lip Logo" designed by John Pasche)

Pieced together from outtakes and much-laboured-over songs, Sticky Fingers manages to have a loose, ramshackle ambience that belies both its origins and the dark undercurrents of the songs. 

It's a weary, drug-laden album -- well over half the songs explicitly mention drug use, while the others merely allude to it -- that never fades away, but it barely keeps afloat. 

Apart from the classic opener, "Brown Sugar", the long workout "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and the mean-spirited "Bitch," Sticky Fingers is a slow, bluesy affair, with a few country touches thrown in for good measure. 

The laid-back tone of the album gives ample room for new lead guitarist Mick Taylor to stretch out, particularly on the extended coda of "Can't You Hear Me Knocking." But the key to the album isn't the instrumental interplay -- although that is terrific -- it's the utter weariness of the songs. 

"Wild Horses" is their first non-ironic stab at a country song, and it is a beautiful, heart-tugging masterpiece. 

Similarly, "I Got the Blues" is a ravished, late-night classic that ranks among their very best blues. 

"Sister Morphine" is a horrifying overdose tale, and "Moonlight Mile," with Paul Buckmaster's grandiose strings, is a perfect closure: sad, yearning, drug-addled, and beautiful. 

With its offhand mixture of decadence, roots music, and outright malevolence, Sticky Fingers not only set the tone for the rest of the decade for the Stones but in hindsight reveals itself as one of their finest records.

LABELS: NEAR MINT

Clean, bright, unmarked labels (with the first issue  - barely a spindle trace to be seen..but remains of slight sticky mark.. Could easily be removed 

VINYL Visual: EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+

There are some hairlines and these are some marks 2.5 inches in from the edge which correspond to the zip position - none of these have any audible significance 

There is also one slightly larger mark..that can be seen when tilted to the light (does not effect play either) see pic!!

VINYL Audio: EXCELLENT+

Outstanding sound throughout - crystal clear, rich, deep and finely detailed and my play-check at loud volume found nothing to fault bar the occasional touch of surface (mostly on the run-ins and between tracks) - nothing major - no scratches or loud clicks or pops - sounds great

SLEEVE: NEAR MINT

The only thing stopping this being graded as MINT is my father in laws initials at the top right of the sleeve.. I believe this could be carefully removed as it is sat in the sleeve and not embedded! Otherwise this is the cleanest, sharpest example I think I have ever seen - there are some indentations on the back from the zip of other copies as they were boxed for shipment (nothing unusual) otherwise it’s as clean, sharp and fresh as the day it was made

INSERT: NEAR MINT

The insert (printed in England by Richard Davis Ltd) is again in beautiful condition - to be picky there are some very light foxing spots on the bottom edge - nothing really - the insert is crisp, sharp and unworn

Overall a truly stunning example that was played 2-3 times and recorded to cassette tape..and then played one more On my way! By myself on my B&O Beocentre 3000.

As close to a final upgrade as you are going to get!
