THE ROLLING STONES - THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST
Increasingly rare and sought after overall nice condition copy of this 1967 very early UK press 12" LP, ROLLING STONES gem on the UK DECCA label, MONO TXL.103
Matrix Numbers : Side 1 ARL-8126-1P1 (the final "1" looks like a simple vertical straight line) with stampers "1" and "U U" at 9 o'clock & 3 o'clock respectively, & the "KT" tax code at 12 o'clock
Side 2 ARL-8127-P1 with stampers "1" and "U K" at 9.30 o'clock & 3.30 o'clock respectively, & the "KT" tax code at 1 o'clock
In normal daylight both sides of the flat and nicely weighted vinyl gleam with the original jet black lacquered sheen, and appear to be in excellent condition. With close inspection under a bright light some relatively minor blemishes do come into view, however : on side 1 a single 1cm scratch on track 1 which is just (and only just) feelable (see photo) and does result in some very light clicking during the second half of this track, and just a few very small light scuff marks and very wispy hairlines; on side 2 just a few very faint surface only paper scuff marks. Each side has retained a glossy sheen and I would grade the condition of side 1 as a solid very good and side 2 as very good plus bordering on excellent.
The condition of each of the labels is EXCELLENT. Overall lovely condition with the iconic turquoise background and silver text all perfectly intact, the only very minor blemish being some faint spindle trails on each label, showing that the record has had a reasonable number of plays.
The condition of the beautiful and iconic Robert Stace laminated outer gatefold sleeve is EXCELLENT PLUS...hard to fault, in fact. All of the edges remain firm with no scuffing and the opening edges remain similarly firm with no fraying. Each corner remains a near perfect right angle with barely any rubbing, there is no laminate lifting, all colours remain rich and vibrant and crystal clear as does the superb art work - on both the outside and inside of the gatefold. The spine is faultless with all of the spine text in perfect order, and the all important front-side 3D stick-on remains in great condition with just the hint of an upwards convex bend due to storage...very trivial. The inside of the gatefold is faultless. Terrific!
The increasingly rare original red and white coloured "flame" inner is of course included - still fully functional with no age discolouration, rips, tears, edge fraying or obvious creasing but there is a small (2-3cm) seam split in the middle of the side and bottom edges and the number "2321" written in the top left corner of the reverse side.
The audio quality is very good plus...what that means is no skips, repeats, pops, nasty clicks, or jumps, and overall impressive tone and clarity even at higher frequency and higher volume. But there are some relatively minor (but noticeable, just) blemishes : on the first track of side 1 there is some background "fuzz" noise from the beginning which gradually diminishes to virtually nothing by the end of the track. I have checked and checked and can find no obvious cause for this and the more I play and carefully clean this track the less incursive this background fuzz becomes - the track is still perfectly playable and enjoyable to listen to, of course, but it would be remiss of me not to mention this blemish. And as already mentioned, the light scratch on this same track does result in some light background clicking during most of the second half of this same track - nothing nasty, and much of the clicking is barely noticeable. Elsewhere you might come across the odd very light and very sporadic click, and just the hint of a little background crackle during some of the quieter moments/intermissions - barely intrusive. Is this record still a great listen? Yes, definitely!

An overall solid very good plus condition copy of this increasingly rare and sought after UK original press Rolling Stones gem - the Stones at their most psychedelic - complete with front side 3D cover and a real "must" for any serious vinyl collection.
Note that I always insert the vinyl(s) into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the sleeve itself to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 50 years from a variety of sources : my own collection, friends and family, car boot and garage sales, door-to-door leaflets, and even through placing an advert in my wife's costume hire shop window! I believe that my ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I will sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy. If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige. There is NO RESERVE on this item. Richard
Descriptions of any records I sell comply with the Rare Record Price Guide grading guidelines :
Mint The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Excellent The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
Fair The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing
Bad The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
