This album is from my personal collection! This was purchased by me from new in 1973! This was only ever played a handful of times and then carefully stored with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve for protection of the cover sleeve and vinyl, This is how I have always stored my records. In the early seventies I was a huge fan of Brian Ferry and Roxy music haveing seen them live at the Odeon leceister Square in London. Being fanatical about these pressings I have quite a few copies of this album. This is the earliest that you will find! A-2 B-2 matrix means that this was pressed from the earliest original master and NO MOTHER STAMPERS, indicating that this is a contract pressing, very rare to find to find and in this condition. Be rest assured that this 47 year old album is becoming a very very collectable item and this copy would be a true investment! Superbe Top Near Mint audio to boot!!

For Your Pleasure is a 1973 album by the British glam and art rock group Roxy Music, released by Island Records. The band's second album, it was also their last to feature synthesizer and sound specialist Brian Eno, who would later gain acclaim as a solo artist and producer!

The group were able to spend more studio time on this album than on their debut, combining strong song material by Bryan Ferry with more elaborate production treatments. For example, the song "In Every Dream Home a Heartache" (Ferry's sinister ode to a blow-up doll) fades out in its closing section, only to fade back in again with all the instruments subjected to a pronounced phasing treatment. The title track fades out in an elaborate blend of tape loop effects. Eno remarked that the eerie "Bogus Man" displayed similarities with contemporary material by the krautrock group Can!

Of the more upbeat numbers on the album, "Do the Strand" and "Editions of You" were both based around insistent rhythms in the tradition of the band's first single "Virginia Plain". "Do the Strand" has been called the archetypal Roxy Music anthem, whilst "Editions of You" was notable for a series of ear-catching solos by Andy Mackay (sax), Eno (VCS3), and Phil Manzanera (guitar)!

As with the debut Roxy Music album, no UK singles were lifted from For Your Pleasure upon its initial release. A single-only release, "Pyjamarama" b/w "The Pride and the Pain", was used to promote the album in Britain, making #10. "Do the Strand" b/w "Editions of You" was released as a single in the US and Europe; it was finally issued as a UK single in 1978 to promote Roxy's Greatest Hits album, released in December the previous year!

The cover photo, taken by Karl Stoecker, featured Bryan Ferry's girlfriend at the time, singer and model Amanda Lear. Original pressings of the album (by Island Records in the U.K. These labels featureing the (Island pink rim) The earliest matrix endings pressed from the 1st master is A-1\B1 featured on this album listed! , and Warner Bros. Records in the U.S.), featured a gatefold sleeve picturing all five band members wearing their Antony Price-designed stage costumes and posing with guitars!

The vinyl

The 1st thing to note! is that this is a mega thick and heavy original type of vinyl! Later press are much more flimsier and less robust! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable! and looks absolutely stunning!

I can't see any marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops. Any marks that could possibly be seen are surface type /sleeve removal type scuffs and seem to have no real adverse effect on the audio that I could hear on my systems. In fact this has hardly ever been played at all! Perhapes a minimal amount of times by me personaly only! This has been stored in a case for the best part of 45 years! Any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong light would be sleeve removal/scuff marks only!!

The Audio

I have played this throughout and recorded it for you to hear for yourself in the player above.

The audio is clear and vibrant throughout without anything worth to mention as any major problems. Any static noted was in the form of isolated static tics only. The separation is awesome and a real bass sound only heard like this on the earliest original pressings. Audio graded at near mint throughout!!

THE AUDIO IS TRULLY AWESOME YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER SOUNDING 1ST PRESS COPY!TOP! TOP! AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES! (no) clicks pops or any grooveware what so ever! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS VINYL!

I NEVER HEARD NOT EVER A HINT OF STATIC, EVEN IN BETWEEN TRACKS UNBELEIVABLY RARE TO FIND!!!

please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the light static crackle, isolated static tic here and there (not) consistant throughout the audio!  This is a genuine 47 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 47 year old system!!

This vinyl has been stored in a case for the best part of 45 years and could benefit from a constant clean before each play! This would greatly reduce any static crackle and greatly enhance the audio quality!

The record Sleeve

This is a pplain white record sleeve with  patent no. and 'Made in England very slight staining with age only no splits or tares.

The Cover

This is the original and more desirable FULLY LAMINATED ''original ''ISLAND RECORDS LONDON'' GATEFOLD COVER! In excellent condition for a 1st press super glossy. Any storagewear is slight in the form of light rubbing in the laminate and light ringwear/rubbing noted at the rear only. Minor laminate creases noted at the rear top edge and laminate lift noted on the front top edge. Very hard to find in decent condition this being primarily very dark blue in colour! 1ST PRESS COVER! I would grade this as excellent.
