1st October: Decca issues the Stones compilation The Promotional Album to various radio stations and media across the world. It features a selection from the band’s back catalogue and a version of “Love In Vain” (which is different to the one that will appear on the Stones’ new album Let It Bleed).

This album is one of the rarest in the world. Only 400 of these were produced to support the Rolling Stones in 1969. There were 200 UK and 200 US albums produced for limited release. After the rise of the world wide web, many of these albums surfaced and were sold or traded. Recently, they have not been readily available on ebay or elsewhere, and most of the examples found are either the Austrailian wide-release with different tracks, or they are authentic and either UK or US. This is an early example of a limited release for one of the world's greatest rock and roll bands in the world. I still remember when they broke and the big debate was Beatles vs Stones amoungst the kids in my neighborhood, and by the time the Dave Clark Five emerged, I was a dyed in the wool Stones fan for the rest of time.

These guys pack stadiums well into their 60s, and their typical ticket prices are 400 dollars or more as demonstrated by their 2005 tour opening in Boston. They hung out in Brookfield Massachusetts with Gil Markle at the Longview Farms studio in the early 80s and prepared for their 81 tour on a soundstage built expressly for them in the Studio B complex. Others who have worked there include:   Limp Bizkit, Creed, Aerosmith, and many others.

From the start, the Rolling Stones have created the most gound-breaking rock and roll ever recorded on this planet, and they possessed the power to stay, as exemplified by the 100,000 dollar private box cost to sit next to California's governor while watching the first "sold out" show of their 2005 tour opening.

From the early days, including Atalmont Raceway. The Rolling Stones have been described as "the greatest rock and roll band in the world". Their 1969 tour of America could have been one of their greatest tours ever, and it is documented well by one of the first bootlegs, "Liver Than You'll Ever Be," the live album "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out," as well as the rockumentary "Gimme Shelter." Every step of their massive tour was covered by "Rolling Stone" magazine, which was at that point as underground as FM radio was at the same time. The culmination of the Stones' tour was the free concert at Altamont Speedway, which was one of the largest rock disasters ever.

The 1969 era is one of the most tepid times in rock and roll. The supporting machinery was in place and the sound of rock and roll was entrenched.

From problems with Bill Graham at the Filmore, and other news worthy events, this band has never failed to cause excitement.

So it would follow that a "limited release" long playing album on vinyl of the most incredible rock band in the world would be destined to become a very special rarity.

I have held onto this album for so long now that it causes me pain to have to let it go.

There are three flaws bidders should know about. The first is a small piece of tape was applied to the lower left corner on the front of the LP. Additionally, there is a mark on the back at the top of the record that was there when I purchased it. Last, there is a small scuff mark on a single side of the disk that does not affect playability, but is visible.

The album is in excellent condition, and not all scratched like other examples one might encounter.If you are interested in this piece and can find it for less money and in better condition, buy it, these albums are destined to be remembered forever. I have thumbed though hundreds of thousands of albums in used record stores and warehouses to find the holy grail of vinyl.

Benz cartridge costs about the same and cartridges can be as expensive as 30,000 dollars for some moving coil implementations. For one of four hundred limited disk pressings, this is a bargin price for the greatest rock and roll band of all time.

 this album is one of a limited release of 200 US records of "The Rolling Stones" "Promotional Album", and is legondary. I serached for 20 years to find it - it will not be sold at a lower price. If you do not have it and you are a Stones fan, your record collection or Stones memorabilia is incomplete without it!! This album will disappear and be returned to my collection never to be seen in the near years on eBay, if not sold.

These are getting to be ultra rare in VG condition and above. In 64 the Stones played Lynn MA, and these guys are still touring like 41 years later. Do not lose a chance to own a highly scarce disk, from a rock and roll band that has stood the test of time. (There were less than 200 US albums released!!!)
