Immerse yourself in authentic Appalachian tradition with Cherokee Rose by Rafe Brady, released in 1981 on Heritage Records (XXXII). This rare LP showcases the mastery of fiddler and vocalist Rafe Brady, whose roots run deep in the southern mountains and traditional medicine show circuits. Featuring a vibrant mix of fiddle tunes, ballads, and original compositions, Cherokee Rose delivers the raw spirit of the Blue Ridge Mountains through spirited arrangements and classic storytelling.
Born in 1913 near Mount Airy, North Carolina, Rafe's career spanned decades of American musical history. He performed with legendary acts, recorded under Bluebird Records, and shared the stage with bluegrass greats like G.B. Grayson and Jimmy Rodgers. This album includes two of Rafe’s original songs, along with rare and well-loved standards, performed by a stellar ensemble of pickers and players on guitar, banjo, mandolin, and autoharp.
