On offer here is the MEGA rare MONO 1st pressing of the Pink Floyd LP 'A Saucerful of Secrets' on the Blue / Black Columbia label.

Pink Floyd started out as an underground psychedelic band fronted by Syd Barrett. After their first LP was released (Piper at the Gates of Dawn) Syds behaviour became more erratic and unpredictable. This, along with his spiralling drug habit ultimately caused his split from the group before their next LP 'A Saucerful of Secrets' was released (although Syd was allowed a final parting shot in the form of "Jugband Blues"). After Syds departure Pink Floyd seemed to part from their psychedelic roots and moved to the more mainstream prog-rock. Personally I loved Pink Floyd more as a psychedelic group. Although this was their second album on Columbia Pink Floyd were still gaining their popularity, and as such the original 1st pressings of this LP from 1968 only made number 9 in the charts.

This is the mega rare MONO original pressing! In 1968 the mono format was pretty much dead, killed off by stereo record players coming down in price so that anybody could afford them along with the stereo copies of the album coming down in price to match that of their mono counterparts. because of this mono was left on the shelf whilst everybody bought stereo and it was because of this that in 1969 EMI deleted its mono back catalogue.

The original mono 1st pressings of this LP are extremely difficult, almost impossible to find these days. Even the rough copies are highly sought after by collectors! Here's your chance to get a nice collection filler copy!!

. G+ The sleeve is holding upokay but has seen the years somewhat. The front cover is clean with no stains or anything and the cover has most of its original colour - it looks to have faded slightly. There are numerous small creases around the edges and quite a bit of laminate crease around the mouth. Ther's some kind of very light, papery residue at the top left and the top right corner of the slick seems to have come away and stuck itself back down in a different position. The top seam has come in an inch from the mouth and again in the middle. The rest has a little wear but is holding okay. The bottom seam has a little wear in places but is holding fine. The spine has some creases running through it and some wear but is holding fine and 'Pinkfloyd' in the middle is still fully legible. The back cover image is generally okay with a little ringwear. At the top there's what looks to be a damp mark which has caused some wear and some of the top overflap coming off. The overflaps (bar the top) are both complete and holding tight with numberous light creases running through them. Overall the sleeve is holding up pretty okay.   The Front Cover   The Back Cover     The Gatefold   .
. VG The disc has an okay shine to it and the playing surface quite a few light surface scuffs but nothing heavier. The disc plays through fine without skipping with quite a clear sound although it does slightly distort in the way of a little crackle occasionally (this is pretty minor though) and a little background crackle that can only really be heard during the quiet / silent parts. It looks like the disc has been played quite a lot in the past but with respect. Still a nice copy of this mega rare disc!   Side 1   Side 2

If payment is not received and I have had no contact from you at all then a 'Non Paying Bidder' dispute will be opened. Refunds
Everybody's grading is different; one persons NM might be another persons VG. If you are at all unhappy with the record then please email me and let me know for a full refund plus the postage cost to get it back to me. The record must get back to me in the exact same condition it left however else this offer is void.

Insurance
All items sent within the UK are sent Recorded Delivery as standard. If a record sells highly I'll put up the option for special delivery in case you which to have it sent in this way. All LPs are sent overseas to places outside the UK are sent uninsured as standard small packet airmail. If you live outside the UK and win a record for a lot of money it is highly recommended that insurance is paid for - the option will be there in the invoice I'll send after the auction ends. If no insurance is taken and the LP is lost in transit there is sadly very little, if anything I can do.

Items Lost in the Mail
If your LP hasn't gotten to you and you're at all worried then please don't hesitate to get in touch so that it can be sorted out. Most likely it's just because I haven't been able to get to the post office due to work commitments. If however it has been posted out and not arrived then I will do everything I can to chase it up and try and find it again. Every record sent within the UK is sent recorded delivery so if it does go walkies there's always that to fall back on and chase up. Unless otherwise requested or paid for all overseas items are sent standard airmail so if they disappear there is very little, if anything I can do. I collect proof of purchase with every item I post.

Items Damaged in the Mail
I professionally pack all of my records between strong 12" corrugated stiffeners and sent in a sturdy cardboard LP mailing envelope for full protection whilst in transit. In all my years of buying and selling on eBay only one record I have sent out has arrived broken at its destination (and that was only because the postman obviously couldn't read the large 'FRAGILE' and 'DO NOT BEND' marks on it as he folded it up to put through the letterbox!!). Since the fault of the breakage lies with the postal service your best bet is to tackle them about the problem. I'll help any way I can.

The 'Record Collectors' Grading System.
Taken from the Rare Record Price Guide book   Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertisied as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Near Mint (NM) The record looks brand new with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality and only the smallest hint that its ever been played. The cover and any additional extras are clean, crisp and with no wear whatsoever. Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. Fair (F) The record is still just about playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. Bad (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
