Description
Big Mama Thornton and Her Hounddogs “Ball and Chain Part 1,” backed with B-side “Wade In The Water.” Arhoolie Records 45-520. Guitar by B. Houston. Record is in excellent condition - it shows surface wear from being played on a jukebox but plays great without scratches, skips or notable noise. It is in a plain white sleeve in good condition. See photos.
Arhoolie released “Ball and Chain” in 1968 and an edited version (“Part 1”) as a single. A version by Janis Joplin and The Holding Company made the song famous. Big Mama Thornton's "Ball and Chain" is included on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame list of the "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.” Very hard to find on 45; priced accordingly, but still less than on various record sites.
