Here I have for sale the rare UK release of the original film soundtrack album to  Raymond Chandler's 'Farewell, My Lovely' (1975), composed and conducted by David Shire. The album features some superb film noiresque jazz/bluesy melodies.

Vinyl – EX. Superbly clean on visual inspection. No signs of wear or marks. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is fantastic throughout. No skipping, jumping or sticking. A great listening experience!
Cover – VG-EX. Colours are unfaded and clean. Fantastic laminated front and back. Minor edge/corner wear and a few vein-like creases. Some slight marking in the middle of the bottom edge on reverse. Slight disc showthrough outline. Fine example overall.
Sleeve – EX. Original. off-white paper with straight corners. Minor folding but clean and intact.

Review:
Farewell, My Lovely resurrected the Philip Marlowe detective character – expertly played by Robert Mitchum – in a remake of the earlier Murder, My Sweet (1944).

At the time, David Shire was in the midst of a remarkable run of brilliant scores as disparate as The Conversation, The Taking of Pelham One-Two-Three, All the President's Men and The Hindenburg. For Farewell, My Lovely, he crafted a wonderful, melancholy main theme which stands with Jerry Goldsmith's Chinatown, Bernard Herrmann's Taxi Driver, and John Barry's Body Heat as one of the best pieces of film jazz of the era.

The entire score is permeated with melody — bluesy, haunting, and lovely — merging the Los Angeles of the '40s with the dramatic sensibility of the '70s. The theme for Charlotte Rampling's character is a perfect complement to Marlowe's music, and, much like Chinatown, the suspenseful moments are treated with modern, avant garde effects.

Farewell, My Lovely was expertly designed by Shire as one of the best LPs of the 1970s.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
