Rare GOTHAM red wax LP Mastered Works of 1951 Ellington Tatum NY Giants NBC Ork
This record does not appear in standard price guides and the only other copy advertised on eBay recently was listed at $1.000.00.
"'Mastered Works' of the Gotham Recording Corporation 1951" -- described as "An outstanding private collection of unusual items recorded during the past year for clients of Gotham Recording and not available to the general record-collecting public." The front cover title is "Holiday Greetings from Gotham Recording Corporation." Various tracks were produced for radio programs including the U.S. Treasury Department Guest Star show, the U.S. Army Stars on Parade, Radio Diffusion Francaise, and the broadcast of Bobby Thomson's home run in the Giants-Dodgers playoff game.

Record is pressed on red wax. Has some scuffs and streaks and one short scratch, VG to VG+. Jacket shows aging and surface wear and is split at bottom, VG-. Signed "To David, Many hours of enjoyment to a guy who well deserves them. Always, Stephen. 1/52."
LPs and 45s are graded M (mint), NM (near mint), VG+, VG (very good), VG-, G+, G (good), G-, F (fair), and P (poor). A VG+ record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG, VG-, and below are deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the G+, G and G- range the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches. Surface noise is as loud as the music on records graded F and louder than the music on P records.
Jackets graded VG+ have only slight wear; jackets graded VG are more worn but still intact unless defects are noted. G jackets show definite damage and F and P jackets are probably falling apart. Splits, markings, cut corners, and other defects will be noted.
