Description
Classical Rarity: Toscanini conducts the NBC Symphony Orchestra rehearsals. This is a behind-the-scenes look/listen to Toscanini as he rehearses. It is narrated by an NBC executive who tells you some of the stories associated with the maestros various explosions and outbursts. Throughout you can hear the famous conductor shouting in Italian, English with his heavy accent, and singing along. There is a very interesting "duet" in which Toscanini's terrible singing is alternated with the actual performance that he was rehearsing, to show how his ideas in rehearsal affected the final product. This recording even includes Toscanini getting so upset he throws his watch on the ground and breaks it!! You hear it on the recording - amazing!
This is truly a special and exciting glimpse into this renowned conductor's rehearsal style, and gives you a much fuller picture of the man that grew to be the towering historical figure that he remains to this day.
As you can read in the second picture, this was sent a select few by NBCs Executive Vice President in charge of NBCs Radio network as a Collector's Item.
Single sided vinyl, PR4M-4307, has surface marks; plays with usual background noise, but nothing that interferes with getting lost in this intense session. Play-grade NM-. Oversized cover shows slight wear, but is made of heavy duty stock, and is larger than the record on all sides to help protect it. Beautiful cover art with the Maestro conducting: EX.
