Description
Cher's phenomenal six-decade career launched in the mid 1960's as part of the Sonny and Cher duo. Songwiter Sonny was associated with legendary record producer Phil Spector, and Cher can be heard singing backup on Spector classics such as the Ronettes "Be My Baby" and the Righteous Brothers "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling". It was around that time early in 1964 Spector and his the wife Annette wrote two songs for a quickie single meant to "cash in" on the Beatles phenomenal success at the time, which they gave to 18-year-old Cherilyn Sarkasian Lapiere - Cher - for her fist single, "Ringo, I Love You", which Cher recorded under the name Bonnie Jo Mason. Wikipedia reports that "many radio programmers rejected the song, mistaking Cher's deep contralto for a man's voice and assuming it was [a gay man] singing a love song to the Beatles drummer. So, these catchy ditties came and went faster than you can say "I got you babe". Here's your chance to own this historically significant and hard-to-find record. It is especially scarce in this clean condition with the vinyl glossy and free of any scuffs scratches or blemishes. Only two worn spots on the label stand between the VG+ and a near mint designation - actually, to me, both sides appear unplayed!
