When you’ve been a record label for over 22 years, it’s a testament of the bands and albums you’ve put out, sustaining and propelling a business onward through an ever shifting climate in the music industry. Since its ?rst release in 1991, Rise Records has consistently been releasing quality, timeless records. To commemorate the labels development and history over the past 2 decades, Rise has decided to make its 200th release something special. Rise 200 is a 5LP box set featuring 50 songs hand picked by label founder and President, Craig Ericson. The meticulously chosen tracks will be in chronological order and will serve as a map of the labels path over the past 20 years.
The 5LP box reads like a table of contents. Each LP features 10 songs. The very ?rst track on LP1 is by the band Up To Here whose 7” “Machine” was the the labels ?rst release. Other highlights in the ?rst 10 songs of LP1 include tracks from Watch It Burn, Fear Before The March of Flames, and Anatomy of a Ghost (which features John Gourley on vocals who went on to form Portugal The Man). The next 10 songs on LP2 are when things really start to take shape for the label, featuring songs from metal core heavy hitters Drop, Dead Gorgeous, Dance Gavin Dance, and The Devil Wears Prada (who was the ?rst band on the label to sell over 100K albums).
LP3 shows no sign of slowing down, as the next 10 songs are tracks by Emarosa, Miss May I, Bleeding Through, Sleeping With Sirens, and Piebald. LP4 shows the label thriving in the metal core and screamo world, while also going back to its roots and putting out records from punk and hardcore bands, it features songs from Hot Water Music, The Early November, The Bouncing Souls, as well as Memphis May Fire, and Of Mice & Men.
LP5 which is the last set of songs, and features some of Rise Records most recent releases, is an incredible display of the label’s diversity. In the Rock department there’s; Further Seems Forever (featuring Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional) and The Jealous Sound, in the punk world there’s Face To Face and Dave Hause, and in the heavy department there is The Acacia Strain, Poison The Well, and Crown The Empire. 
This collection of songs is more than just a series of tracks, it’s a family tree. Whether you’re a die-hard Rise Records fan or someone who’s looking for an introduction to the label, Rise 200 is a must have release for your collection!
