Very good condition, of 5 classic vinyl albums from Rockabilly revival
rocker Robert Gordon. These are a terrific trove of recordings of some of
the best rock and roll inspired, but still very original, music from the late
punk and early new wave period.The first selection is the 1977 debut LP entitled
‘Robert Gordon with Link Wray’, Link Wray the legendary rock and roll guitarist
from the 1950s, collaborated with Gordon for two albums and was a real inspiration
for the kind of authentic, rough style guitar music that really rocks. With ten tracks
that include, ‘Red Hot’, ‘Sweet Surrender’, ‘It’s In The Bottle’ and ‘Flyin’ Saucers Rock And Roll’.
The second album is the 1978 ‘Fresh Fish Special with Link Wray’ and it has ten tracks and
every one a winner, including ‘Fire’ written for Gordon by Bruce Springsteen,‘The Way I Walk’,
‘Twenty Flight Rock’ and ‘Lonesome Train’ to name a few. Please notethis album does have a
cut out corner on the lower right side of the cover.The third LP was one of Gordon’s biggest sellers
and his first on the bigger label of RCA,(the first two are on their original indie label of Private Stock)
is the 1979 ‘Rock Billy Boogie’.Filled with twelve hot wax tracks like ‘Black Slacks’, ‘The Catman’,
‘It’s Only Make Believe’,‘Wheel Of Fortune’, ‘Walk On By’ and ‘Blue Christmas’.Album number four
is the 1980 ‘Bad Boy’ with eleven songs like, ‘Sweet Love On My Mind’,‘Torture’, ‘Born To Lose’,
‘Uptown’ and ‘Need You’ to name a few.The fifth LP is the 1981 ‘Are You Gonna Be The One’ which
has three covers of Marshall Crenshawsongs ‘But, But’, ‘She’s Not Mine Anymore’ and the third of the
Crenshaw songs which becamecult hit ‘Someday, Someway’. Other songs include
‘Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die’ and‘Drivin’ Wheel’.
Truly five rare gems of a find, and a must for lovers of great rock and roll. Experience the music the way
it was meant to be heard in all the warm tonesof its analog quality stereophonic vinyl sound and not the
