The Rolling Stones / Aftermath. 1966 Purple Shadow Cover. Decca LK 4786 Mono.
Extremely rare UK pressing in amazing condition. History tells us that this original design of the sleeve with a purple shadow round the title was withdrawn and plain letters were used on all later copies. There are some variants on some of the lines and spacing on the rear of the cover too which were amended for later issues. A little digging on specialist sites on original Rolling Stones Decca releases (highly recommended) confirm this is one of the original issues of this classic in it's very first state. Anything later is a revised release and not how it first hit the record shops.
Laminated front sleeve with non flip back rear which only has some slight discolouring on opening side otherwise perfect and absolutely nothing that detracts from the excellent condition. The album covers were surprisingly flimsy so it is rare that any survive unscathed and in this fresh and bright condition. The pinched spine is unworn and uncreased. And just to point out there is no writing, removed stickers, seam splits or initials etc.
Record comes in original Decca, polylined, top quality inner sleeve in excellent condition, no splits or tears.
Now, the record itself is in stunning, excellent condition. Unboxed ridged red Decca mono labels.

side two: XARL,7210 - 6A.
Hardly any spindle wear on the labels at all, see photos.
No scratches or marking on the discs, retaining a beautiful sheen, a heavy duty thick 1960s pressing that Decca were renowned for. Both sides play perfectly. Audio is superb on every track. I have only played the album a few times on quality equipment and recorded it many years ago.
Collectors and Stones fans don't need me to critique the tracks as they will be well known to them so I just try to describe the physical attributes of this superb original, very first release of Aftermath the way it hit the shops in 1966 before being withdrawn to have the cover redesigned, making this one of the most highly sought after Rolling Stones records ever.
Please spend some time checking the photos which really don't do this album any justice. The best copy of this rarity I have ever seen.
This record is from my personal record collection in Ibiza, Spain and has been kept in studio conditions for at least 20 years when I started accumulating some amazing records from folks who couldn't take their precious collections with them on their travels.
