Description

Rolling Stones:  "LIVEr Than You'll Ever Be"     (Original US Bootleg LP)

Iconic bootleg, the original Dec 1969 US release on the Lurch label.  This LP was issued just over a month after its 09 Nov 1969 (2nd show) recording at the Oakland Coliseum in California.

"LIVEr Than You'll Ever Be" is arguably the most influential bootleg in rock 'n' roll history, in part because it so well captured the mood and feel as the Stones returned to live performances for the first time in over three years with new guitarist Mick Taylor ... but also because of its influence on the subsequent behavior of the band and its label.  This bootleg gained notoriety following a highly complimentary review in Rolling Stone magazine by legendary critic Greil Marcus in Feb of 1970.  That review triggered unprecedented sales of this boot.  (I bought this copy is a small record store in Claremont CA in my freshman year of college.)  The Stones and their label quickly responded with "Get Your Ya-Ya's Out!", a commercial release compiling performances from their 1969 tour.  But "LIVEr Than You'll Ever Be" remains a favorite among Stones fans because of its fresh and honest reproduction of a single great show, with Jagger's interactions with the audience included and no vocal or instrumental overdubs.

Excellent stereo audience recording with great presence.

Dead wax reads "triangle symbol" 14327 2(circled) & X-4172  on side 1; "triangle symbol" 14327 1(circled) & 1X241 on side 2.

This scarce LP is featured in the Hot Wacks book compilations of recommended bootleg releases.  Hot Wacks, a Canada based publication, was my bible for guidance on "alternate label" recordings.

Vinyl:  EX

Light superficial surface marks are present but do not significantly detract from the listening experience, with only faint surface noise ("crackle") audible during quiet passages.  Exceptionally high gloss on this record, now nearly 50 years old.  A very special listen !!!

Jacket:  EX

A generic white jacket stamped in red ink on the front cover.  Excellent condition except for some ring wear and modest rub wear.

No splits.

A legendary piece of rock 'n' roll history wonderfully captured on this rare bootleg LP, a US original 1969 release on the Lurch label.  Hoping this one goes to a good home.

All records I offer are from my personal collection, each cleaned using my Nitty Gritty Record Cleaning Machine.

All are play graded (not just visually graded), employing Goldmine Price Guide standards.

As I take great care to accurately describe my items, I do not accept returns unless my item description is incorrect.
