Overall Description
Here we have a superb very 1st pressing of the second Rolling Stone record!!
The outer sleeve has the “Blind Man” text that only the very first pressing had, as this was quickly removed due to complaints from the blind commission!
The labels are the very first red unboxed Decca variety with the deep Decca groove and the made in England text at 12 O’clock
As well as having the very earliest matrix, the stampers are also the very lowest at 1/1, so it’s clear to see this is one of the closest you can possibly get to the stones in 1964!!
Matrix and Stampers
Side 1 XARL 6619-1A 1 CH
Side 2 XARL 6620 -2A 1 CC
(The A here of the matrix refers to Guy Fletcher who was the engineer
who oversaw the pressing process)
Outer Sleeve
The beautiful 1st press James Upton front laminated flip over outer sleeve is in really nice condition! There are no rips, tears, or writing to speak of!! The sleeve sits nice and flat and the edges are still nice and sharp with only minor shelf wear to the corners. The rear which is unlaminated and open to damage is in superb condition as well with only mild discolouring. The spine is nice and straight and the text perfectly readable. A superb outer sleeve that won’t disappoint! Excellent
Labels
The wonderful 1st press unboxed Decca labels are in splendid condition, with no rips, tears, stains or writing. There is no centre hole damage and to the naked eye look brand new!! Under a strong halogen, few invisible spindles appear and it’s clear to see this record has been looked after!! Excellent
Inner Sleeve
The handling original inner sleeve is in lovely condition with no rips, or tears. Just some mild folding to mention and some ink spots to rear!! Very Good +
Vinyl Visual
The record looks to be in great condition. Under a strong light, some of the faintest of hairlines can be seen, that has absolutely no effect on playback and cannot be felt. There is no warping whatsoever; it still retains its factory shine and lustre!! Excellent
Vinyl Audio
. The record played through sublimely! There were no skips or jumps at all. There was no distortion at all. It sounds perfectly clear. All the dynamics of the band coming through as they should, with no distortion or unwanted noise. The super thick 1st press vinyl is the way that this record should be heard, it really is. It’s a strong punchy audio from start to finish!! There is some minor crackle in between tracks and I heard just 1 or 2 pops between tracks!!! Excellent
Overall
So there we have it, a superb clean copy of one of the greatest Stones records all time!!
A Real Gem!!
