Description

An original c.1970 export copy of TSMR on the UK Decca label. Matrix 7k/7k. An original export copy from the late-sixties destined for the South African market. Please note the tape numbers are inverted - this is very much a throw-back to the sixties and was discontinued shortly afterwards. Secondly, publishing credits are mentioned as 'Gideon' which you usually find these on copies from 67-69, and not Mirage which was used from 1970 onwards. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover from 1969/70, but a transitional one. Yes, they've certainly dumped the lenticular on the front, but the way the cover is constructed is similar to the original sixties design. You will notice on the right hand panel a section of card has been added to form the pocket - this is the sixties way of doing it! Also included is the original Decca blue and white stereo inner sleeve date coded to winter '69. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In lovely condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Decca were no slouches when it came to pressing quality and this example is certainly no exception. Very nice clean audio which does a great job of rendering the more complex and acoustic segments of this Stone psyche classic. Interference is largely absent. All I could make out were a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments. Even the snoring is clean!...If you like clean snoring! Overall a fantastic rendition from this unusual and interesting item.
Cover (Ex) In great shape and has clearly been cared for down the years. Lovely clean front without ageing or creases. Ditto the rear - hard to find fault. Please note there is a blue stereo sticker in the top-right this was added by Decca on a few of these copies at the time. The interior looks great - no issues at all with all colours very ncie and vibrant. Edge wear is light and the openings still sharpish. The spine is very nice too with all text perfectly legible. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Very nice condition and has not aged. No splits. But there's a small date written on the rear.
