Description

An original and GENUINE 1st STEREO press of DARKLY from 1969. Matrix 1W/2W - 1st cut. Stampers 1A/1A - a really early in sequence copy. Well worth going as early as possible on this title - really nice heavy pressing. The vinyl comes housed in an original hexagonal gatefold cover. Flipbacks are exposed on the interior - correct for 1st issue. Also included is the original hex inner sleeve too. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) A super looking lightly used copy with excellent lustre. Under close inspection I couldn't make out more than a couple of lightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of minor deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Having an absolute ball playing this one...what a compilation! Nice clean signal which allows you to hear the Stones from the sixties - with true sixties audio. The rockers play hard and the lowkey numbers play nice and clean. Little to complain at here. All I could detect was occasional minor static presence in '2,000 Years' [at the quietest points] - nothing vaguely worrisome. One solitary tick in 'Move On' & in 'Love You'. The odd minor static crackle in the quietest spots of 'Rainbow' & 'Tuesday' - but better than 8 out of 10 copies...on these super fussy tracks...A couple of crackles in the intro to 'Honky Tonk' but plays really well. A super standard throughout - highly recommended.
Cover (Ex) The front and rear surfaces are looking very tidy and that aesthetic is largely untouched by ageing or laminate lift. No creasing and minimal surface wear. The interior looks superb - no complaints. Minimal edge wear and rigid opening panel which is good to see. Firm openings. And here's the thing that takes this specimen up a couple of notches...the spine 95% intact - almost no wear. No compression. That's a really hard find on this title - they always had issues with the spine. All sorts of issues! Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very nice looking original example.
Inner (Ex) Fragile - but has not split or frayed or aged. Smart!
