Description

An original mono 1st press of TTPD on the UK Decca label. Matrix 1A/3A - 1st cut. Stampers 1A/1A - placing this copy amongst the 1st few thousand copies ever pressed. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original hexagonal gatefold cover with flipbacks exposed. Also included is the hexagonal red and white inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In very nice condition and has not been abused. Do expect a few light marks each side and one on the second side which is semi-feelable and does sound [details below]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback on side 1 and mostly NEAR EXCELLENT on side 2 with two deviations. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across, for the most part, with great clarity. Not much to complain about on side 1 - just clean powerful mono audio. Side 2 plays nice too but with a couple of deviations. During "Sitting On The Fence" where there's a few ticks caused by the mark mentioned above in the opening 30 seconds.Then, in 'Honky Tonk', there's a touch of distortion just creeping in here and there. Doesn't really invade, but it is audible now and again in that track. Barring these issues the rest of the LP should thoroughly impress.
Cover (Ex) Very impressive indeed and looking far better than most other specimens. Might have graded higher but for a sub-par spine. Lovely clean and shiny looking front cover. Many examples, by this point in time, exhibit grubbiness or creasing or laminate bubbling - or all three! - but not here.. That front cover is as good as you could possibly find with colours lush and vibrant. The rear is equally good with barely a crease. The interior looks great with no issues. Edge wear is mostly very light apart from on the spine. And this is the covers one let down. The spine is no better than average with a 2c.m. of the surface worn away. Much of the text is still legible - but clearly not all of it. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Still a very fine examples indeed.
Inner (Ex+) Difficult to find in top condition. But this one is nigh on perfect. No spits, ageing, or markings.
