Description
For sale we have the 1965 Ember first pressing LP of Ronnie Ross and Allan Ganley's "The Swingin' Sounds Of The Jazz Makers" catalogue number FA2023. The Jazz Makers were co-led by baritone saxophonist Ross and drummer Ganley and completed by Art Ellefson (tenor), Stan Jones (piano) and Stan Wasser (bass). The playing and writing is strongly reminiscent of a Gerry Mulligan unit. Some of the best improvising takes place during 'The Real Funky Blues', when the degree of British conservatism is at its lowest, but, to be fair to these five musicians, it must have been an exacting experience to produce this LP in a New York studio during a relatively short tour of America. The LP is considered a rarity among enthusiasts and would make a welcome addition to the discerning Jazz collector's vinyl canon.
The LP has been tested using a Linn LP12 reference turntable and is in very good condition using the guide you will all be familiar with. The vinyl displays VERY light scuffs and scratches which results in the odd pop and click which would be expected with a 45 year old record. The record plays through fine with no jumps or distortion. Similarly the laminated sleeve is in very good condition with very minimal discolouration to the rear. The record has been professionally cleaned.
