Description
Rosalyn Tureck performs J.S. Bach Overture in the French style in B minor and Concerto in the Italian style in F major. His Master's Voice Records 1960, released on EMI Records, long play Mono recording, catalogue number ALP 1791, matrix numbers 2XEA 1791 5S & 2XEA 1792 5S.

The French Overture, together with the Italian Concerto, comprise the whole Book 2 of the Clavierubung, a production of Bach's mature years. This volume was published in 1735. It is very likely that the coupling of these two forms in one volume is due to the fact that both are derived from Orchestral forms. Although the French Overture (sometimes referred to as the Partita in B minor) is in Suite form, its purpose and style are different from the six Partitas. It is adapted from the French orchestral style and form of Overture where the first movement contains the most substantial musical material and development, giving its name to the entire work.
This album is in Very Good condition. Released in 1960, the sleeve is in Very Good condition, very clear and concise detailing of text on the reverse, and a sharp purple colour photograph of Rosalyn Tureck at the piano on the front cover. The vinyl is in Very Good condition, no damage, scuffs or scratches, clear and a well printed label. This item reviewed is in Very Good condition, highly collectable and extremely hard to find.
