Description
For sale is Philips box set 6769 024 - Rossini's 6 Sonate a Quattro. This is the original 1979 release. I don't much like the NM/EX/VG scale as it's very open to interpretation, so the following is, I hope, a suitably detailed and unbiased description.
The box is in great condition. All corners are crisp and sharp. There are a couple of minor foxing spots to the inside of the front cover - please see the picture. The spine is perhaps a shade lighter than the rest of the box, likely due to sunlight at some point in its life. Very much legible and clear though. There are no stickers or pen markings.
The insert is uncreased and unmarked.
Both records are the original pressings, made in Holland. I've cleaned both of them and put them into new inner sleeves, the original (plain) sleeves are included too for completeness. The photos are taken underneath halogen spot lighting - rather brutal in terms of showing specks of dust!
Both records play extremely nicely - no skips or jumps, and only minimal background noise. They have been fully test played using both a Lyra and a Clearaudio cartridge - yours may produce different results. Record 1 is very slightly dished (perhaps 2mm, though I've not measured) - certainly nothing that a record clamp can't take care of. Side 4 on Record 2 does have a few isolated ticks and pops in the first half, it's possible that a more intensive cleaning could improve them but that's an exercise I'll leave for the buyer.
I'm more of a collector than a dealer, but every once in a while I sell something valuable to fund the next acquisitions. I know the disappointment of buying an 'excellent' record, only to have something battered and scratched turn up. I wouldn't want to do that to anyone else, especially with something as rare as this, but if for any reason you're not happy I'll gladly refund the purchase cost when I receive the records back in the same condition as I sent them.
I'm happy to post worldwide - I'm at the mercy of Ebay's shipping options, but rest assured that it will be insured to the full sale price. Should it be sold internationally the buyer will be responsible for any customs charges / import duties etc.
