One listen to this album will tell you why modern composer Gunther Schuller said, straight-out, that Sarah Vaughan may indeed be the greatest jazz instrument of all time.
Listen to her step-in here, for LULLABY OF BIRDLAND. It's the first cut, just hinting at her unbridled talent.
Then, with Clifford Brown, Herbie Mann, Jimmy Jones, and Roy Haynes on board, she launches into APRIL IN PARIS, HE'S MY GUY, EMBRACEABLE YOU, I'M GLAD THERE IS YOU, SEPTEMBER SONG, and IT'S CRAZY, among others.
All of it, every last ounce, gathered from the original master tapes from EmArcy, re-mastered, and plated, and cut, in Japan.
A finer pressing does not exist, this copy like new, inside and out. Near mint, perhaps better in playback.
