PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original 1969 first pressing in fantastic colorful THICK gatefold cover ...so hard to find THIS clean...the very first RARE BIRD album, an early progressive from the UK underground...
Sometimes unknown, sometimes forgotten dual keyboard British progressive that is far and away the best of several albums by RARE BIRD featuring the beautifully memorable melodics in both 'Beautiful Scarlet' & their best works "Sympathy" which was an underground hit in Europe and played a lot on American FM underground radio stations around '69 - '70...
RARE BIRD were a fantastic early British prog rock band who uniquely sported dual keyboardists (David Kaffinetti on electric piano and Graham Field on organ). Their music was powerful and creative and apparently also somewhat catchy as this album circa 1969 actually posted to the European billboard charts thanks to the hit "SYMPATHY". The surprising thing here is that there is no guitarist on the album with bass and lead vocals being handled by Steve Gould and drumming by Mark Ashton. The album has some fantastic numbers like "Beautiful Scarlet", "Iceberg", and the haunting "God of War". Their self titled debut album is clearly an impressive display of keyboard dominated complex-like playing and in many ways actually reminds of the work of CARAVAN with the darkness of ELP. Steve Gould's vocals have an almost raw sound, fitting the music stylistically.
