We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. The THIRD Deep Purple album is probably their most psychedelic album. This is the last with the first line-up. Just after the albums release Rod Evans & Nick Simper were fired from the band ...Simper went to form WARHORSE and Evans went on to star with CAPTAIN BEYOND
This interesting album features DEEP PURPLE's greatest epic in the 12-minute track "April", a progression of their previous experiments blending classical music and psychedelic rock. Comparing this album with its second album we can see many similarities and equivalent songs, making it clear that the album is not much different than the predecessor, with exception of longer tracks.
Chasing Shadows is the lead off track, a cool riviting rocker with a great guitar solo ~~ the main riffs have a division of organ and guitar.
Blind is a classic psychedelic song, keyboard dominated, with good harpsichord arrangements by Jon Lord, great drumming and good singing. There is a great acid guitar solo and after the second verses and chorus there is a harpsichord solo that lasts until the end of the song. The song is slow and somewhat somber and the closing harpsichord arrangements are superb.
Lalena is a version of Donovan song. Purples version has a sad mood, with beautiful organ, singing and good guitar. The song, apart of the organ, is very close to the Donovan's folkish style. The organ solo is the highlight of the song and the closure of the track, with good electric guitar and organ.
Fault Line / The Painter starts with a psychedelic experimental melody, with backwards organ and cymbals in the beginning and the development features some crazy guitar and organ effects. The Painter is an organ-driven psychedelic song with great acid guitar solos and organ sounds in the song.
Why didn't Rosemary is a bluesy-psychedelic song with good guitar work (solos and riff) and some very strong keyboards, with some soloing. The singing is bluesy also and there is good psychedelic guitar and organ solos.
The Bird Has Flown is a somewhat heavy psychedelic song which features fuzz guitar riffs, good bass and hard organ. The chorus have floaty organ, singing and guitar. From the middle to the end there are good guitar and mainly a great organ solo. The closing of the song is very good also.
April is one of the progressive masterpieces of this band and it is the song that has strong classical arrangements as a three-part epic with the parts very defined. The first part is a classical-like arrangement of organ, piano, acoustic guitar and electric guitar. There is a beautiful chorus also. The second part is totally classical with strings and woodwinds. The oboes and flutes are very good and it seems a little like orchestral soundtrack for films. The third part is psychedelic by the band itself, with nice guitar and organ riff and singing. The mood is sad and the guitar and organ melodies are very good. One of best Deep Purple tracks of the sixties.
Overall the 3rd album is very strong in the psychedelic/progressive vein...
