STILL FACTORY SEALED ...(never opened) 70's Original first pressing vinyl of the 'mystery monster'....or better yet, the wonders among wonders....
This is one of those LPs that helps one understand why people look for obscure overlooked gems hidden in the rough...The cover screams "bad" but, that couldn't be further from the truth ...and here's the crazy thing...the actual album sounds nothing like you'd expect it to. Had the album been by two loner, freaky hairy rock 'heads', you might better understand how the Emerson brothers put together such a heady mix of tropical island soul/psych and fuzzrocker mixes .
"Good Time" opens the album when you sddenly realize the true facts within: The mix of fuzzed out guitars with a unmistakably bright melody is already worth noting but then the vocals come in and everything hits some next level you would never have guessed possible(!) There's that something real good and charming about the songs within, something simple and innocent about the guys jamming this opener out in the basement, visions of arena tours dancing in their heads.
Those into funky psych will no doubt gravitate to the dark, smoky "Give Me the Chance" when suddenly the song falls deep off into a crevice of flipped out keyboard effects.
But seriously: the album is all about "Baby." This is easily one of the best things you may hear in a long time...Tropical island psych/soul with an irresistable hook & a dreamy vocal melody that will stay in your head for days -- melting the listener like hot butter on popcorn. Someone described this song, "as if Shuggie Otis and Roy Orbison had a baby together" and that exactly nails it. You'll want to get lost inside this shaggy beanbag of a song, slipping into its cushy folds and dream wild like Donnie and Joe. The album delivers pretty consistantly strong hard edged fuzzy soul/funk psychedelia with memorable powerpop melodies that will attract the listener to want to hear it over and over...one of the wonders among wonders...
Obviously a low production private press that will only get that much harder to find in short time...great investment item....thanks James.
