Originally released in 1994 and reissued in 2024, Bakesale is part of Lou Barlow's second unexpected reunion of the last decade. While Barlow's return to Dinosaur Jr with J Mascis was notable, Sebadoh's reunion of its classic lineup also left a significant mark. Early Sebadoh records were raw, lo-fi gems, often buried in hiss and tape fuzz, reflecting a playful yet introspective DIY spirit. Bakesale, however, represents the band's most focused and accessible effort, with punchy power chords and anthemic hooks taking center stage. By this album, Sebadoh had perfected their blend of energetic indie rock and personal, emotive lyrics, delivering tracks that capture the exciting period of the mid-90s indie scene.
