Description

I honestly don't think that you'll find a better example of a mono 'Shades of Deep Purple' than this.

It's on the UK yellow and black Parlophone label.

It's a mono recording (rarer than the stereo version) and the catalogue number is PMC7055. It was released originally in 1968 It is still one of my favorite Deep Purple records and, as a debut, it's simply stunning.

OUTER SLEEVE - The flipback sleeve which is laminated on the front is in great condition. The front shows very minor damage at the corners, some creasing and some minor feathering at the open side. The edges and spine show some creasing and the occasional very minor split. The wording along the spine is 95% readable. The flipbacks which are also laminated are in fine condition with minimal wear. In the top right hand corner it states 'File under POPULAR : Pop Groups'. In the bottom right hand corner it states '6809 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending PMC7055 PCS 7055' . The non-laminated rear of the sleeve is in fine condition with almost no discolouration or wear. The only blemish is the name 'N Waller' written in blue ball pen in the bottom right hand corner but this is hardly noticeable. I've graded the sleeve Ex-.

INNER BAG -  Plain white die cut paper type with clear plastic liner.

RECORD - The record is in superb condition. It looks quite clean and appears to have been played quite a few times. There are some very superficial marks on either side which do not affect the quality. It plays very well on both sides with some very minor surface noise and some very occasional pops and clicks on both sides. These blemishes do not detract from the overall quality of record. There are no jumps on any of the tracks on either side.

LABELS - The labels are black with a yellow 'Parlophone' at the top underneath the yellow and black TRADE'£'MARK It states 'SOLD IN THE U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS. SEE PRICE LISTS'. (XEX.689 - side one - XEX.690 - side two) - (A Derek Lawrence Production) - MADE IN GT. BRITAIN'. There are also raised 'KandT' tax stampers either side of the hole on side one. There are some minor spindle marks around both holes. The labels are in fine condition with no damage. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - XEX 689 - 1 (stampers 1    G) - side two - XEX 690 - 1 (stampers 1    G). I've graded the record as Ex++ which I believe is very fair.

I try to grade everything very conservatively and I believe that the winner of this auction will not be disappointed. I guarantee everything I sell. It will be difficult to find this record again.

THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS ITEM.
