Deep Purple
Deep Purple 1st Studio Album Shades Of Deep Purple. stereo PCS 7055. Parlophone. Original UK Vinyl LP. This is the Debut Studio Album recorded in May 1968 and then released in July 1968. Matrix nos. Side 1 YEX 689, Side 2 YEX 690.The album was not initially well received in the UK, where it sold very little and did not chart. In the US, on the other hand, it was a success and the single "Hush", an energetic rock track written by Joe South and originally recorded by Billy Joe Royal, became very popular at the time, reaching number 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.[1] The good sales of the album and the intense radio play of the single contributed largely to the attention Deep Purple would get in their early US tours and also during the 1970s. Modern reviews of the album are generally positive and consider Shades of Deep Purple an important piece in the history of Deep Purple
Rare Original vinyl album from 52 years ago, cant believe where time has gone. Always been a Deep Purple fan, my go to band. Alwats get me singing, playing Air Instruments and make me happy
The cover shows signs of a bit of Ringware, the lamination has bubbled a little in bottom right hand corner. The back does look a tad faded but that could well be me just being fussy. Have a look at the pics and judge for yourself, not too many of these around. Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse (please see pics)
The inner sleeve is an advertising sleeve from EMI which is the original.
The vinyl, I can see 1 hairline scratch on side 2 about 3/4 of an inch (2mm)
Labels are pretty good, unfortunately I decided back in 1968 to stick a label on, seemed a good idea at the time, didn't think 52 years time that might be a problem, it may well just peel off, don't know. (My name is Evans and no, I'm not a relation of Rod unfortunately).
Essential Album for every Deep Purple Fan from my personal collection, a real have to have.
