SHIRLEY COLLINS - " THE POWER OF THE TRUE LOVE KNOT ", Polydor Records Ltd (583 025) Stereo, 1968.
Very rare 1968, first UK pressing of the very rare LP by Shirley Collins, also featuring arrangments and flute-organ accompaniment by Dolly Collins, plus Bram Martin on cello and Robin Williamson and Mike Heron from the The Incredible String Band adding percussion, penny whistle and and extra backing vocals.
Featuring 583025 A//1 / 583025 B//1 matrix numbers, denoting the very first pressing.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been kept and will be included with this item).
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, just the very lightest of spindle trails, etc. In normal daylight the vinyl appears perfectly clean, under a bright grading lamp I can make out a few very light paper scuffs just visible on the vinyl's surface - although none of these correspond directly to any audible defects. On playback, there is some very faint surface noise just audibile during the silent run-in before the beginning of the tracks. Once the music starts, it plays strong and clean - free from interuption from distortion, clicks, pops, etc. Overall, although it is not quite a mint museum piece, it's imperfections are very slight and purely cosmetic. Overall, this LP would make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy it.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G++ (No rips, tears, defacing, heavy ringwear, etc. But, there are some light creases just in the laminate on the right and both the corners on the spine side have clealy taken a bit of a knock and suffer more noticeable creasing and in the case of the top left corner, delamination. Not completely ruined, but worth taking into account when placing max bids - see photos for further clarification
