SIMON AND GARFUNKEL, Sounds of Silence, original first issue flip back CBS mono 1966 UK LP.

BPG 62690, original first issue 1966 UK Orange mono CBS record labels.

A first issue 1966 UK mono copy in original condition, featuring:

1. an original first issue mono ‘flip back’ sleeve, ie the rear of the sleeve features three ‘fold over’ edges. Only a small number of these ‘flip back’ sleeves were made before the ‘flip back’ design was no longer used,

2. a first issue 1966 UK sleeve made by, ‘E J Day’ and is made of the period, quality ‘thick / heavy’ card,

3. an original 1966 UK mono record, made of the period quality, ‘thick heavy’ vinyl,

4. original 1966 UK CBS mono, Orange ‘textured’ and ‘ridged’ record labels. The ‘ridges’ are 5mm from the outer edge of each of the record labels,

5. each of the record labels feature the earliest text of, ‘33’, later record labels read, ‘33 1/3’,

6. comes with its original period, ‘CBS’ advertising inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The spine is in very good++ condition and has remained clean and straight and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the original UK, tri ‘flip back’ design, ie ‘fold over’ edges. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers, sticker residue to the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original period ‘CBS’ Orange advertising inner sleeve. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue to the inner sleeve. There is a split to one of the side edges.

THE RECORD: each side of the record is in very good++ condition. The record is made from the period 1960s thick, heavy vinyl. The record has remained dark and glossy.

The records matrix is: side one – 62690 A4, also the numbers / letters of, ‘9 A 9’, I think it is, is engraved onto the ‘run off’ groove. Side two - 62690 3, also the numbers / letters of, ‘8 A 7’, I think it is, is engraved onto the ‘run off’ groove,

THE AUDIO: each side of the record plays excellent++. The record plays with a full powerful, period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE RECORD LABELS: each of the record labels are in excellent+ condition. Each of the record labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.

PACKING - ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION. BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVE, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
