Simon & Garfunkel's "Bookends" CBS Records# KCL-2729 Mono (w. Poster). This Original release is featured in very nice condition for your listening pleasure. Please see notes below.
This album does not exist. Well, ALMOST, anyway. If you open Tim Neely's "Standard Catalog of American Records 1950-1975", first edition (Krause publications, 1998) on page 997, the wise book will tell you that there are "no stock copies" of this album in mono, and that only white label promo mono pressings exist. Unfortunately for Tim, we have a picture here to prove otherwise (please see the picture of the label, shown below). Not only is this album by far the rarest of all Simon and Garfunkel albums, but it is also the very best (in our modest view). But this is just a beginning: some of the mixes of the songs on this album are dramatically different from the standard stereo versions. A few tracks, in particular, stand out: "Save the life of my child" sounds like a completely different take – or at least radically remixed version - from the one we remember from the stereo version. The difference is most palpable on uptempo numbers, such as 'Fakin' it" and "Hazy Shade of Winter" where Simon and Garfunkel, apparently in conjunction with Roy Halee (the co-producer of the album), attempt some very unorthodox, almost psychedelic ornamentation and tape loop effects, which are completely lost - or are near-inaudible - on the stereo version. This is a much, much more natural and humane, more direct mix, which will leave you begging for more. A critical missing piece in every self-respecting S&G collection.
The Cover shows normal wear and looks fine. Grade VG+ ..Nice Shape!..(top partial split repaired..glued/small spine rub at top)...The Record shows nice clean gloss with some light scuffs and looks fine. Grade VG+....Nice Shape!

M Mint - usually reserved for sealed records.
NM Near Mint with only one or two insignificant defects.
VG++ (or NM-) Extremely nice, would be NM except for a few light hairline scratches or scuffs which do not affect play.
VG+ A nice but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It may play with a few pops or ticks but no serious problems.
VG A well used record that still sounds OK but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.
VG- A very worn record that plays through without skipping that will do until a better copy comes along!
