Description

SOLOMON ILORI & His Afro-Drum Ensemble :: "African High Life" :: Original Blue Note Mono with New York Address on Label You are bidding on the rare jazz LP "African High Life" from Solomon Ilori and His Afro-Drum Ensemble. A spectacular recording circa 1963, this is the mono, blue & white label Blue Note pressing with the New York address on the label. BLP 4136.

The LP is in spectacular condition with nice luster and no scratches but some light mottling. Both sides have been played from front to back (partially not just to playtest but because it's such a phenomenal album and I'd rather keep it for my own collection). Side A playtests at near mint, Side B VG+ with some light surface noise only noticeable in the quietude between tracks. I have uploaded a 2 min. sample from between the two final tracks on Side B to give an indication; this is the worst of any noise present on this album, and Side A had no negative attributes at all. (http://soundcloud.com/underdogautopsy/solomonilori)

The cover is in excellent condition. Only very minor rubbing to the front or back covers, no writing, soiling, or tears. Minor bump to upper-left corner. Seams are in perfect condition without a hint of tearing or splitting. Spine 100% legible with no damage at all. Original Blue Note inner sleeve.

Media: VG+ (Side A plays near mint; B VG+ -> VG++)
Cover: VG+ (hard to call a cover this old near mint but this one's spectacular)
Label: Blue Note Catalogue No.: BLP 4136
Year: 1963
Genre: Jazz
Track Listing:

    A1 - Tolani (African Love Song)
    A2 - Ise Oluwa (God's Work Is Indestructable)
    A3 - Follow Me to Africa
    B1 - Yaba E (Farewell) B2 - Jojolo (Look At This Beautiful Girl) B3 - Aiye Le (The Troubled World)

     Given the rarity of this LP, U.S. orders will be sent via Priority Mail w/ insurance. This default method of shipping will be free of cost to the buyer. Express or Registered Mail will be available upon request with shipping costs to be the responsibility of the buyer. Winning bidders who would prefer this method need to contact the seller at auction's end before submitting payment.

IMPORTANT FOR INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS:
International shipping is available for this item. But this is very important: any LP selling for more than $50USD to an international buyer will absolutely require registered shipping, which will cost $30USD. This is non-negotiable. If you are outside North America bidding on an item selling for greater than $50USD, you agree to pay this $30 express mail charge. Do NOT pay immediately following auction's end with eBay's automatically generated international shipping charge. I will send you an invoice. Any instant payment will be refunded til the proper shipping rate is paid.

I have the right to deny any winning bidder the item if I feel the risk is too great based upon negative feedback, limited feedback, or some other reason at my discretion, including country of residence. This is primarily the case for international buyers. I will not ship an irreplaceable, rare item overseas to an un-verified buyer if I feel the risk is too great. If you are afraid this might indicate you, please contact me before bidding. I clearly want to see the LP go into the hands of anyone who desires it, regardless of circumstances!

Any other questions, please ask and I will respond as immediately as possible.
