Original US 'preview' pressing - 1978...here's a wee story for you if you have the time:       back in October 1979 I was in Ann Arbor visiting Radio Birdman's Deniz Tek, and Mark Sisto (of the Visitors) and one day we shuffled over to Scott Asheton's house for the afternoon (we were amping up before hitting a Cult Heroes gig that night)...I'd previously asked Deniz if he knew if Scott could lay hands on any of this single, and the response was that they had a few left in a box at Fred's house - since it didn't sound like many, I said I'd take them all, to sell in my shop back in Sydney...anyway, that day, somehow it was arranged for Fred to come over and drop off the last remaining copies. They'd sold out of the 'release' copies, but he brought over a box containing exactly 88 copies of this 'special preview edition' (as it states on the back cover). He said he felt kinda weird charging for them as they were meant to be promos, but they were all he had left and they'd finished 'promo-ing' them. Natch, I stated I was only too happy to pay for them being as, now, they were all I'd ever get, and he reckoned that being that they were going all the way to Australia, and that I didn't mind, he'd accept the cash I offered ($1.50 each). I have to admit I wasn't expecting 88 copies, but the outlay still seemed small, and I remember hurriedly reasoning that I could sell them for a seemingly outrageous AU$4.95 in Sydney (a buck or two towards travelling expenses seemed fair). OK...next part of the story goes like this: I decide to lighten my load on my trip and boxed up some clothes and these records and sent them by SHIP back to Australia - usually, back then, about a 10 week trip. I arrive back in Oz and wait out the weeks till these gems arrive, letting all manner of Stooges/Birdman/MC5 fans/customers know of the legendary booty coming...then the word comes through that the box is lost, and all manner of chasing it up amounts to zilch. I magine the letdown...horrendous. Eventually gave up on it of course...and moved on, and the single grew and grew in status for its unobtainability as much for it's sheer brilliance. Almost a year later, in September, I get a call to say they've found the box all dusty in the back of a warehouse in LA and it's on its way. Hard to believe, and last thing I needed was to get all amped only to be let down again, besides I wasn't certain they'd be in any decent condition....but sure enough, about 10 weeks later I get the call that the box will be 'delivered today'. And everything inside that box was just as it was the day I packed it. By that stage the single was about a $50 or $60 item, and I remember feeling guilty for selling them for $9.95 each, while trying to offer an explanation that it was actually a good price, to a swathe of fans who couldn't get their money out fast enough, and who couldn't give a damn about any explaining.

Anyway, this is one of those wayfaring 45s. Cover art as you can see is blue and white, and BOTH labels are also blue and white (as opposed to the black and white covered stock pressings with one blue and white label, and one pink and white label).

...Label condition: [SIDE ONE = MINT ;   SIDE TWO = MINT ]...

CONDITION: (cover/record):  (EX-/EX-) ...STUNNING COPY!...plays beautifully...

If you have any concerns about the accuracy of my gradings, please check my feedback for the odd nice comment from some satisfied folk out there.... (and hopefully you may be able to join their ranks).

You can pay in US$'s, Australian $'s, or UK pounds...whatever suits you best (using www.xe.com for any conversions).

Thanks for considering this item. Best of luck if you decide to bid...Cheers, Jules.

PAYMENT

OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA:
You can pay by: 1. Money Order (you'll need to add a US$4 exchange fee for a Western Union m/o or a US Postal m/o ; or a US$8 exchange fee for any other non-Australian dollar money order)
.. .. ..or.. .. ..
2. CASH (MUST be in a registered envelope..ONLY)
.. .. ..or.. .. ..
3. via Bidpay (also known asWestern Union Auction Payments, aka WUAP) you need to add a US$4 exchange fee for payments via Bidpay/WUAP)
.. .. ..OR.. .. ..
4. Paypal..IF you like..BUT..you should know that Paypal unfortunately (for us all), charge we here in Australia, a hidden exchange rate fee which equates to 7% (.. ..it WAS 14%, then 11% until early Dec.2002); so its not as bad as it was, and still a tad cheeky and unfair (this is NOT to be confused with their normal fees, which I will, of course, pay for); but, all the same, IF you're prepared to cover that 7% exchange fee, you CAN use Paypal (it still works out cheaper [and obviously faster] than Bidpay or registering cash, for any amount below about US$100 / GBP45 )..its up to you, but PLEASE don’t think I condone their business practices; the other options are there for you to use. [My alternative, otherwise, is to allow them to take that much from every item..and they do not disclose that this is what they do. If you don’t agree with covering for this (and why should you!), please do consider another option.]
IN AUSTRALIA:
Pay by Paypal (unlike overseas [above], no fee to be added), Money Order, Bank Cheque, Personal Cheque (allow 5 days for clearance)...or Direct Deposit into our account (quickest method).. .. ..or cash (again, MUST be in a registered envelope).
PACKING:
Don’t worry - we pack anything you buy VERY CAREFULLY to make sure it arrives in EXACTLY the condition it left here. More specifically, in the way we'd like to receive parcels ourselves.
WE MAIL OUT FROM AUSTRALIA ALMOST EVERY DAY.
