Description

HERE'S the lovely and brilliant MARION HARRIS, who made a habit out of casually being the woman to do any number of career "firsts." She was practically the first gal singer to record Jazz and Blues, and definitely was the first lady singer to tackle "ST. LOUIS BLUES" on a record!  The Victor Talking Machine Company balked at allowing her to do this "Low Down" number! So Marion switched labels, finding Columbia's attitude more lenient! Here is the result: 


Her "ST. LOUIS BLUES" became only the third record of the song, after versions by Prince's Band (1915) and Al Bernard (1919).  "HOMESICKNESS BLUES" occupies the flip side. 


This original 1920 Columbia A2944 is in highly playable E- condition.
