SOMEWHAT EXPERIMENTAL debut album from this San Fransisco legend embracing his blues and psychedelic roots for a diversified collection of material from folk psych to prog and all points in between. Amazingly when you listen to this record you can see no corellation between it and say, 'Fly Like An Eagle' - its all quite a leap from the music created here. If, however, you like your rock to take on a fairly unstructured but intense journey then this album is a genuine treat. In hindsight we can now see that Steve was quite a mercurial character willing to take on new challenges just to bypass the predictable. In that light it's a bang up job. Produced by Glyn Johns and recorded in London.
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
Pressing: Capitol, USA, 1968 - green label
Vinyl: No signs of use - I think its never been played. No spindle marks on labels and just a few blemishes to the surface - typical pressing marks resulting from the manufacturing process common to all US pressings of this era. Grades as shop fresh MINT!
Cover: Again, absolutely no signs of any use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated cover - retains original ptinters bloom. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is square and stiff. Grades as shop fresh MINT!
