Description
Steve Vai is an incredibly amazing guitarist. He started recording with Frank Zappa in 1980, after being his transcriptionist for a couple of years. He stayed with Zappa until '83, then briefly joined the band Alcatrazz. (That group consisted of Graham Bonnet, after he left Rainbow. Vai replaced Yngwie J. Malmsteen on guitar. Some really big shoes to fill!) While in Alcatrazz, he was actually working on a solo album, and by 1984, he released his very first record (FORTY years ago)! He then became David Lee Roth's guitarist, in his new band after leaving Van Halen, in '85. That's when he became really famous, as people started to really realize how good he actually is!
By '89 Vai was in Whitesnake, and was working on a new solo album at the same time. In 1990, Steve Vai released his second solo album, and titled it 'Passion and Warfare'. Vai is still active, and has been busy through the last five decades! He even participated in the G3 project (the G stands for guitar) with Joe Satriani (who taught Steve Vai guitar lessons), and a revolving door of incredible guest guitar players, such as Eric Johnson, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Uli Jon Roth, and many more. Last year, in 2023, Vai released his latest solo album called 'Vai/Gash'.
In today's rockin' good deal, you'll receive a copy of 'Passion and Warfare', on a 12" picture disc LP! It's the artwork from the album on the A side, and it's awesome! Take a good look. There's a lot going on there! One of the best looking picture discs I've ever seen...The B side is song titles and credits. With a pic of Vai looking like a real rock star (I mean he WAS playing guitar in Whitesnake at the time, so yeah...rock star)!
And to make this a really cool Steve Vai double shot, I'll also add the CD for 'Passion and Warfare'! It's in great shape, and is still all shiny and clean. The case is also looking really good. You'll have this on disc so you don't have to play your picture disc!
The vinyl itself looks good, but with a few light surface marks on it. Nothing too bad, but they are there. No heavy scratches, gouges, or scuffs. I can't vouch for the sound quality, as I never play specialty vinyl such as pic discs or colored records. But a lot of early 90s pic discs still hadn't worked the bugs out yet, (as that was fixed by the mid 90s or so), and may sound bad, with lots of surface noise. Still, a very cool Steve Vai vinyl collectible pic disc LP, in bright and shiny colors, and ready to come home with you today. Plus you can listen to the album on CD!
