HERE'S the record that started all the trouble about guitars and violins being used as jazz instruments: "STRINGIN' THE BLUES" and "BLACK AND BLUE BOTTOM" by the redoubtable JOE VENUTI and EDDIE LANG.
From 1926, these guys spring full-grown-from-the-brow-of-Zeus hot guitar and fiddle jazz onto an unsuspecting American record-buying public. NOTHING like them had ever been heard before. But they would be heard frequently thereafter, until Lang's unfortunate death in 1933. They put their instruments on the jazz map, inspiring Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelly and countless others to do the same.
This original 1927 "Viva-Tonal" Columbia 914-D is in V++ condition; some wear, a few scratches. No major damage.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
